Seat matrix guide

Cutoff movement begins with
how many seats actually exist.

A seat matrix shows available seats by institution, course, quota and category. Always use the current official matrix for the round.

What to verify

  • College and course
  • Total seats and counselling authority
  • Quota or seat type
  • Category distribution
  • Newly added, withdrawn or converted seats
  • The exact round and publication date

Why cutoffs move

Seat additions, withdrawals, upgrades, resignations and category conversion can change closing ranks between rounds. Historical cutoffs should therefore be read together with the current seat matrix.

NMC provides college and course information. MCC and state authorities publish round-specific counselling seat matrices.
